Major Award Win for The Rooms and Local Communications Professional

December 16, 2016: St. John’s, NL – The International Association of Business Communicators Newfoundland and Labrador (IABC NL) is pleased to congratulate Vanessa McBay, President, Director Client Services at Idea Factory, and The Rooms, on their recent IABC Canada Silver Leaf Award of Excellence win.

“Vanessa is such a talented communications professional and we are so proud to have that talent recognized with a Silver Leaf Award of Excellence,” said Debbie Ryan, IABC NL President. “It was a significant event, celebrating a major milestone in our history here in our province and around the world, honouring those who served.”

The entry I Will Sing You Home was submitted by The Rooms in the Audio Visual category and recognized the work of Ms. McBay as the project lead at the time and her team at The Rooms. On July 1, 2016 The Rooms held an international event with the theme Remember Them at the Rooms. The campaign lead up to the July 1 event that marked the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel.

Earning a Silver Leaf Award is among IABC Canada’s highest achievements, and recognizes the leaders of our industry for their hard work. There were 142 entries for 2016 and of those entries: 53 were honoured with a Silver Leaf Award; 43 received an Award of Excellence; and 10 an Award of Merit.

The Silver Leaf Awards recognize professional communicators’ work that exemplifies excellence in strategic planning and outstanding creative execution in the field of communications.

This submission also won an IABC NL Pinnacle Award. The Pinnacle Awards are IABC’s provincial awards recognizing excellence in the communications profession in Newfoundland and Labrador.
