Karla Hayward, VP Insights and Innovation 

First up during this session, Karla Hayward, VP Insights and Innovation at m5, will present an overview on the latest developments and trends across all social media channels going into 2023. Karla has almost 20 years in the business of marketing, including 15 at one of the largest independent shops in Canada; m5 agency. She’s worked with leaders in almost every industry: technology to tourism, wellness to finance, energy production to environmental stewardship, and more. Her current role of Vice-President, Insights and Integration, is perhaps one of the coolest jobs around. She’s a trend hunter, a data diver, and the resident oracle on digital best practices, responsible for driving cross- functional collaboration and identifying opportunities for campaign innovation and amplification.

 

Sherri Reynolds, VP, Newfoundland and Labrador

Sherrie knows it’s only good marketing if it works. That’s why she’s determined to crack her clients’ unique business problems with smart, strategic communications. From managing brand strategy to multi-channel marketing campaigns, Sherrie has delivered results for some of the world’s most recognized brands including MasterCard Canada, Koodo Mobile, WestJet, AdditionElle, CBC Sports, and Cooke Seafood. After sharpening her skills in Toronto for several years, she found her way back home. Now, as head of m5’s Newfoundland and Labrador team, she’s finding creative solutions and elevating profiles for all kinds of local brands, from NL Dairy Farmers to Energy NL. Sherrie is endlessly fascinated with human behaviour. She strives to understand why people do what they do, so her team can do what it does best – create marketing campaigns that resonate big-time with target audiences and deliver big results for her clients.

 

Jon Duke, VP, Strategy

Planning has become exponentially more complicated and that’s where Jon comes in. As head of strategy across m5’s five offices, Jon supports clients in developing clarity, focus and purpose. His fifteen years of experience span client service, planning, and innovation roles. Jon has a keen interest in behavioural economics, looking at the psychological reasons why people do what they do and buy what they buy. It’s fascinating stuff that has helped Jon dig deep to develop strategies for hundreds of organizations in almost every industry. In addition to working with a myriad of private and public companies, Jon has led files for government departments and crown corporations, both at the provincial and federal levels.
